PRIVACY POLICY

Niche by Zelda · Zelda Adetunji née Chokoe

Niche by Zelda is run by Zelda Adetunji née Chokoe in South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

  • Your email address, to create your account, send sign-in links and order emails.
  • For signed paperbacks: recipient name, cellphone number, delivery address and any dedication you write.
  • Your orders, the books in your library and where you are in each book.
  • The type of device and browser you read on (for example “Chrome on Android”), to apply the device limit.
  • If you join a reader discussion: the display name you choose and the messages you post.
  • Your email if you join the newsletter or ask to be notified about a book, and anything you send through the contact form.

What we do not collect

We never see or store your card details. Payments are processed by Paystack, which has its own privacy policy.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run the site: Paystack (payments), Supabase (secure database and sign-in), our email provider (order emails) and the courier who delivers your book (name, phone and address only). We do not sell your information.

Your reading copy

Books read online show your email address faintly on the page. This protects the author’s work from copying and is not shared with anyone.

Reader discussions

Your display name and messages are visible to other readers of the same book. Your email address is never shown. A few messages from a book’s chapter 1 discussion may appear publicly on that book’s page under “What readers are saying”. You can delete your messages at any time.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as the law requires for tax and accounting. Your library stays available while your account exists. Newsletter emails are kept until you ask to be removed.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how it is used, by sending a message through the Contact page. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
